What is
HIGH MATERIAL REMOVAL RATE WITH HIGH ACCURACY
Deep Hole Drilling
A deep hole is defined as one that is a minimum of 10 times its diameter in depth. On the maximum side, a deep hole drilling is generally capable of drilling to a depth of 100 to 150 times its diameter. And hole deeper than 10 times the diameter should certainly be considered a deep hole, requiring a specialised drilling technique.
Deep hole drilling are characterized by high material removal rate plus high accuracy with regard to the straightness of the hole, surface finish and dimensional tolerances. The extreme conditions which apply when drilling deep holes place high demands on the tool, machine and associated equipment.
Deep Hole Drilling Systems
Performance Deep Hole Drilling Machine ▸ Made in Taiwan
Gundrilling system
The characteristic of the single flute gundrilling process is that coolant is fed through the coolant hole in the tool and exits along with the chips in the v-shaped groove (flute) on the drill tube from the drilled hole. the coolant also provides lubrication to the drill periphery.
✔ RS Series > Micro holes gundrilling machines has X and Z axis.
✔ R Series > High productivity gundrilling machines with high customization.
✔ S Series > Moving column type gundrilling and milling function for mold manufacturing
✔ F Series > Compact table type gundrilling machines with X, Y and Z axis for drilling off-center holes
✔ FC Series > Special design for gundrilling Heat Plate. The FC gundrilling machines only has X and Z axis.
BTA single tube system
BTA system is totally different with Gundrilling system. The chips come out from drill tube through tool spindle to conveyor. The BTA system is suitable for drilling larger holes with quicker feeding rate. *BTA has Ejector system and Single tube system. All BTA machines will be used Single tube system in Vastuna.
Deep Hole Drilling Methods
Deep hole drilling is the machining of holes with a relatively large depth to diameter ratio. Whereas normal drilling techniques produce holes where the depth is rarely more than five times the diameter. In deep hole drilling the ratio may reach 150 times (depthe/diameter), and any hole deeper than ten times the diameter should certainly be considered a deep hole, requiring a specialised drilling technique.
Deep hole drilling can employ various machine set-ups: rotating workpiece, rotating tool, or both tool and workpiece rotating.
COUNTER-ROTATING TOOL AND WORKPIECE
The best straightness is obtained with counter rotation. Cutting speed is composed by tool and workpiece rotation speed.
ROTATING WORKPIECE
The next best straightness is obtained with a rotating workpiece. Cutting speed is depending on workpiece rotation speed.
ROTATING TOOL
The least straightness is obtained with a rotating tool. Cutting speed is depending on tool spindle speed.
