Gun drills - Deep hole drilling

The characteristic of the single flute gundrilling process is that coolant is fed through the coolant hole in the tool and exits along with the chips in the v-shaped groove (flute) on the drill tube from the drilled hole. the coolant also provides lubrication to the drill periphery.
Gun drills are used for deep hole drilling—a depth-to-diameter ratio of 10~150 : 1. Gun barrels are the obvious example; hence the name.

Steady rest bush – The material is rubber. ​ It’s for supporting the gundrills at steady rests. ​ The special material can reduce the gundrills vibrations when drilling.
